It is worth highlighting that this transparent material has high transparency to ensure visibility.   Besides, because of its outstanding protection functions, it can be widely used for outdoor applications and indoor applications where people can access the LED screen easily such as elevators, fitness rooms, shopping malls, subways, auditoriums, meeting/conference rooms, live shows, event, studio, concert, etc.   It is also suitable for flexible LED displays and can provide excellent flexibility for accurate screen installation based on the structure of the building.     Part Two - COB, GOB, SMD? Which One Is the Best for You? There are three prevailing LED packaging technologies on the market – COB, GOB, and SMD. Each of them has their features and advantages over the other two. But, what are the details, and how to choose when we face these three choices?   To figure out this, we should begin with knowing the differences simply. Concepts and Differences of the Three Technologies What Is SMD Technology?   SMD is the abbreviation of Surface Mounted Devices. LED products encapsulated by SMD (surface mount technology) encapsulate lamp cups, brackets, wafers, leads, epoxy resin, and other materials into lamp beads of different specifications.   Then, a high-speed placement machine to solder the LED lamp beads on the circuit board to make LED display modules with different pitches.   With this technology, the lamp beads are exposed, and we can use a mask to protect them. What Is a COB LED Display? On the surface, COB LED display sounds similar to GOB display technology, but it has a long history of development and has recently been adopted in promotional products of some manufacturers.   COB means chip on board, it integrates the chip directly into the PCB board, which can improve the efficiency of packaging and narrow the distance between different lamp lights. To avoid pollution and damage to the chips, the producer will package the chips and bonding wires with glue.   Though COB and GOB are seemingly the same as the lamp beads will all be packaged by transparent materials, they are different. The packaging method of GOB LED is more like SMD LED, but by applying transparent glue, the protection level of the LED module gets higher.   What Is GOB Technology? We have discussed the tech principles of GOB before, so we will not go into details here.     4. SMD LED Display Pros: (1)High color fidelity   SMD LED display has high color uniformity that can achieve high color fidelity. The brightness level is appropriate, and the display is anti-glare. It can serve as advertising screens for both indoor and outdoor applications well and is also the predominant type of LED display industry.   (2)Energy-saving   The power consumption of single LED lamp light is comparatively low from about 0.04 to 0.085w. Though it does not need much electricity, it can still achieve high brightness.   (3)Reliable and solid   The lamp light is potted with epoxy resin, which brings a solid protection layer to the components inside. So it is not easy to be damaged.   Besides, the placement machine is advanced to make the soldering accurate and reliable to ensure the lamp lights are not easy to apart from the board.   (4)Quick response   No need for idling time, and has a quick response to the signal, and can be widely used for high-accurate testers and digital displays.   (5)Long service life   The common service life of SMD LED displays is 50,000 to 100,000 hours. Even if you put it under running for 24 hours, the working life can be up to 10 years.   (6)Low production cost   As this technology has been developed for many years and has been rolled out in the whole industry the production cost is relatively low.   Cons:   (1)Protection ability waiting for further improvement   The functions of anti-moisture, waterproof, dustproof, and anti-crash still have the potential to be improved. For example, light and broken lights can happen frequently in a humid environment and during transportation   (2)Mask can be sensitive to the changes in the environment   For instance, the mask may plump up when the surrounding temperature is high, affecting the visual experience. Besides, the mask may turn yellow or white after using a period, which will degrade the viewing experience too. 2. COB LED Display Pros:   (1)High heat dissipation   One of the aims of this technology is to deal with the problem of heat dissipation of SMD and DIP. The simple structure gives it advantages over the other two types of heat radiation.   (2)Suitable for small pixel pitch LED Display   As the chips are directly connected to the PCB board, the distances between each unit are narrow so as to decrease the pixel pitch to provide customers with clearer images.   (3)Simplify the packaging   As we mentioned above, the structure of COB LED is simpler than SMD and GOB, so the packaging process is relatively simple, too.   Cons: As a new technology in the LED industry, COB LED has had not enough experience of being applied in small pixel pitch LED displays. There are still many details that can be improved during production, and production costs can be lowered by technological progress in the future.   (1)Poor consistency   There is no first step for selecting the light beads, resulting in poor consistency in color and brightness.   (2)Problems caused by modularization   There may be problems caused by modularization as high modularization can result in inconsistency in color.   (3)Inadequate surface evenness   Because each lamp bead will be potted glue separately, the surface evenness can be sacrificed.   (4)Difficult maintenance   The maintenance needs to be operated with special equipment, leading to high maintenance costs and difficult operations.   (5)High production cost   As the reject ratio is high, the production cost is higher than SMD small pixel pitch LED a lot. But in the future, the cost can be lowered with the corresponding technology development. 3. GOB LED Display     Pros:   (1)High protection ability   The most outstanding feature of GOB LED is the high protection ability which can protect the displays from water, humidity, UV, collision, and other risks effectively.   This feature can avoid large-scale dead pixels and broken pixels.   (2)Advantages of COB LED   Compared with COB LED, it is easier to maintain and has lower costs of maintenance. Besides, the viewing angle is wider and can be up to 180 degrees both vertically and horizontally.   Moreover, it can solve the bad surface evenness, inconsistency of color, and high reject ratio of COB LED display.   (3)Suitable for applications where people can access the screen easily.   As the protective layer covering the surface, it can deal with the problem of unnecessary damages caused by people such as falling of the lamp beads, especially for LED lamps placed on the corner.   For example, screens in elevators, fitness rooms, shopping malls, subways, auditoriums, meeting/conference rooms, live shows, events, studios, concerts, etc.   (4)Suitable for fine pixel LED display and flexible LED display.   This type of LED is applied mostly on small PP LED screens with a pixel pitch of P2.5mm or below now, and also is suitable for LED display screens with higher pixel pitch, too.   Besides, it is also compatible with a flexible PCB board and can meet the high requirements for high flexibility and seamless displaying.   (5)High contrast   Due to the matt surface, the color contrast is improved to increase the play effect and widen the viewing angle.   (6)Friendly to naked eyes   It will not emit UV IR, and also radiation, which is safe for people’s naked eyes.   Besides, it can protect people from the “blue light hazard”, as blue light has a short wavelength and high frequency, which may lead to damage to people’s eyesight if watch it for a long time.   Moreover, the materials it uses from LED to FPC are all environment-friendly and recyclable that will not cause pollution.   Cons:   (1)As a typical type of LED display applies for stents packaging technology as SMD LED displays, there is still a long journey for it to take to solve all existing technical problems such as better heat dissipation.   (2)The property of glue can be improved further to raise the glue force and inflaming retarding.   (3)No reliable outdoor protection and anti-collision capability for outdoor transparent LED display.   Now, that we know the differences between the three common LED screen technologies, you may have already known GOB has many advantages as it includes the merits of both SMD and COB.   Then, what are the criteria for us to choose the right GOB LED?   Part Four - How to Make A High-quality GOB LED Display? 1. Basic Requirements for A High-quality GOB LED There are some strict requirements for the production process of GOB LED display that must be met:   (1)Materials   The packaging materials must-have features like strong adhesion, high stretching resistance, adequate hardness, high transparency, thermal endurance, good abrasion performance, and so on. It should be anti-static and can resist high pressure to avoid the shortening of service life because of crashes from outside and static.   (2)Packaging process   The transparent glue should be padded accurately to cover the surface of lamp lights and also fill in the gaps fully. It must adhere to the PCB board tightly, and there should not be any bubbles, air holes, white points, or gaps which is not filled with the material.   (3)Uniform thickness   After the packaging, the thickness of the transparent layer must be uniform. With the development of GOB technology, now the tolerance of this layer can be almost neglected.   (4)Surface evenness   The surface evenness should be perfect without irregularity like a small pothole.   (5)Maintenance   The GOB LED screen should be easy to maintain, and the glue can be easy to move under special conditions to repair and maintain the rest parts. 2. Technical Key Points (1)The LED module itself should be composed of high-standard components   The packaging of glue with the LED module put forward higher requirements for PCB board, LED lamp beads, solder paste, and so on.   For instance, the thickness of the PCB board must reach at least 1.6mm; the solder paste needs to reach a specific temperature to ensure the soldering is rigid, and the LED lamp light needs to have high quality such as lamp beads produced by Nationstar and Kinglight.   The high-standard LED module before the potting is one of the key factors to achieve a high-quality final product as it is the prerequisite for the packaging process.   (2)Aging test should last for 24 hours   The LED display module before potting glue only needs an aging test that lasts for four hours, but for our GOB LED display module, the aging test should last for at least 24 hours to ensure stability to decrease the risks of reworking as much as possible.   The reason is straightforward – why not ensure the quality first, and then pot the glue? If the LED module has some troubles such as dead light and fuzzy displaying after packaging, it will cost more energy to repair it than launching the aging testing thoroughly.   (3)The tolerance of trimming should be less than 0.01mm   After a series of operations such as fixture comparison, glue filling, and drying, the overflowing glue on the corners of the GOB LED module needed to be cut. If the cutting is not precise enough, the lamp feet may be cut down, resulting in the whole LED module becoming a rejected product. That is why the tolerance of trimming should be less than 0.01mm or even less.   Part Five - Why You Should Choose GOB LED? We will list the main reasons for you to choose GOB LEDs in this part, maybe you can be convinced better after making clear the distinctions and advanced features of GOB considered from a technical level.   (1)Superior protective capability   Compared with traditional SMD LED displays and DIP LED displays, GOB tech fosters higher protection capability to resist water, humidity, UV, static, collision, pressure, and so on.   (2)Improved consistency of ink color   GOB improves the consistency of the ink color of the screen surface, making the color and brightness more uniform.   (3)Great matt effect   After the dual optical treatment for the PCB board and SMD lamp beads, a great matt effect on the screen surface can be realized.   This can increase the contrast of displaying to perfect the final image effect.   (4)Wide viewing angle   Compared with COB LED, GOB extends the viewing angle to 180 degrees, allowing more viewers to reach the content.   (5)Excellent surface evenness   The special process guarantees excellent surface evenness, which contributes to the high-quality display.   (6)Fine pixel pitch   GOB displays are more suitable for high-definition images, supporting pixel pitch under 2.5mm such as P1.6, P1.8, P1.9, P2, and so forth.   (7)Less light pollution to people   This kind of display will not emit blue light which may damage people’s naked eyes when the eyes receive such light for a long time.   It is quite helpful to protect the eyesight, and for customers who need to place the screen indoors as there is only close viewing distance for viewers.   Part Six - Where Can You Use GOB LED Screen? 1. The types of displays that GOB LED modules can be used for: (1)Fine pixel pitch LED display   (2)Rental LED display   (3)Interactive LED display   (4)Floor LED display   (5)Poster LED display   (6)Transparent LED display   (7)Flexible LED display Small Pixel GOB LED Display For indoor applications, small-pixel LED display is now the mainstream, especially P1.2 and P1.5 small-pixel LED screens.   However, it is easy to damage the edge and surface as the tiny LED is fragile comparatively. Once the small LED lamp is broken, maintenance will be very difficult.   Thus, GOB LED is more popular than before in this field as it has better anti-crush, waterproof, and dustproof ability, while still perfectly flat and seamless. Floor LED Display GOB LED screen can replace the layer of the acrylic cover of traditional floor LED screen. And it has a better light transmission and visual effect.   Only add some simple structures, GOB LED screens can be used as floor screens, and do not need glue protection as traditional ones. Flexible GOB LED Display Flexible GOB LED can be used widely to make LED video cylinders of various diameters.   It can be bent 360 degrees with increased protection ability. The flexibility will not be crippled to become a better choice for customers who want to create a innovative, and reliable flexible screen.   Transparent GOB LED Transparent GOB LED screens can ensure high transparency while still performing good visual effects.   For traditional transparent LED screens, the PCB board is easy to damage. However, GOB technology provides better protection for the whole module. Rental GOB LED Screen Rental LED displays may need frequent installation and disassembly. Then the process may damage the LED module and cabinet, which will increase the cost of maintenance.   GOB LED display can deal with the pain point accurately, saving money and time. Poster GOB LED Displays The poster LED display is usually placed indoors, thus people can touch the surface easily, increasing the risks of damage. ​What are the advantages and characteristics of LED soft modules and special-shaped screens? So where are the LED soft modules applied?       ​Some strange LED display screens are widely seen. These are all assembled by LED soft modules. At present, the market has a great demand for LED flexible soft modules. Below is a sharing of the specific advantages and characteristics of LED soft modules.     What are the advantages and characteristics of LED soft modules and special-shaped screens? 1. Compared with the traditional PCB material, it has higher hardness. The flexible FPC circuit board made of flexible insulating base material has strong anti-compression and anti-torsion ability, which can better solve problems of installing displays in irregular-shaped corners and places.   2. Most of the installation methods of LED flexible modules are magnetic column suction, which is convenient and quick to install, and also easy to shape. The installation method of magnetic suction is as simple as the conventional indoor screen installation method. Cylindrical screen: In some hotels, conference rooms, bars, etc., many of the pillars are cylindrical.
